Preparing for success in 2011
What a year 2010 has been! Lawrence housing market saw an increase in sales activity due to the very successful tax credit for new and existing homeowners. Now we have to get in gear to see what the housing market will do in 2011 in the Lawrence Housing Market. One thing i'm looking forward is to helping many sellers who have been waiting for the spring to list their home in order to buy another home and take advantage of these fabulous interest rates that are still under 5%!! Great time to buy and even better time to get your home ready to sell.
Things to do to get your home ready for top price in 2011 include...
Staging: staging plays a huge part in enhancing the impression a prospective buyer about your home.
Remove all things from your home that make it look smaller or dated...
Take this holiday time to declutter, neutralize and keep it clean!
Declutter:
Remove all personal items and replace pictures and personal photos with scenery or postcards and keep counters to minimum items less than 5 items on any surface. Kitchen counters should be empty to emphasize the space!
NeutralizeUse light colored paints, eliminate color walls and aim for neutral or natural colors that could work with a variety of styles and appeal to a large range of buyers.
Keep it clean!
Nothing helps a home sell better than showing that you have taken good care of your home with making the space clean and well maintained.
According to Realtor.org they suggest that some inexpensive upgrades that would make a difference to the buyers include...
New bedding
New towels, hand towels, trash cans and soap dispensers in the hall baths
Fresh paint
Replace all old lamps and replace light fixtures in main living spaces.
These are all great things to do during your holiday season in your effort to prepare your home to sell. While putting away those Christmas ornaments use that time to get your home decluttered, neutralize and some early spring cleaning!
Enjoy your holidays and spending time with those you love!
